Junior Sailing Program
2026 Session Dates
Four 2 week sessions
Session 1 - June 22 – July 3
Session 2 - July 6 - July 17
Session 3 - July 20 - July 31
Session 4 - August 3 - August 14
AYC's Junior Sailing Program is for both members and non-members. We have programs designed for beginners through advanced Junior Sailors ages 7 years and up. We sail two types of boats - The Optimist, commonly known as the “Opti,” is a popular one-person sailboat for beginners we teach in the basin of the river. We use our Club 420 , a two-person sailboat, in our Intermediate and Advanced classes out in the ocean.
The goal of our program is to offer a fun and safe summer experience as the students learn and practice good seamanship and good sportsmanship. For more details see out Junior Sailing page.
Cruising & Racing
Whether we're out for a day of cruising with friends, motoring to Stage Island for beach golf and a picnic or racing against other local sailors, we all enjoy our time on the water!
Please watch our calendar for upcoming events and activities. Also, keep in touch with fellow members for more spontaneous boating opportunities. Maybe a summer evening sail, a lazy river cruise or some weeknight adult sailing will come your way!
