Arundel Yacht Club
House Rules & Regulations
Whether on the deck, the lawn or by the woodstove in the fall - our historic "Ropewalk" offers a fantastic river view and kitchen amenities too! Our members and guests are responsible for cleaning up after any event at the Club whether you are inside, outside or on the docks.
Hours of Operation/Member Use of Club
-
AYC is open from the day after the Spring Work Day to the day before the Fall Work Day. Members in good standing are given the code needed to open the club and therefore have 24/7 access to the Ropewalk during this time. Sleeping overnight in the Ropewalk, however, is never permitted.
-
Members who use the Ropewalk when no staff is present are responsible to turn out the lights, turn off the fans and appliances and lock all doors when they leave. After the staff is gone, members using the Ropewalk should coordinate with other members to determine who will be the last to leave and therefore be responsible to secure the Ropewalk. Members will be held responsible for all damage done to club property by themselves, their family members, or their guests. This responsibility will be based on the cost of repairing or replacing the damaged property.
Staffing
-
AYC employs one Club Manager and two or three stewards each season. The club is fully staffed from the Friday before Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day. Staff hours are weekdays 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and weekends 8:00 a.m. to 6 p.m.
-
AYC refers to the day after the Spring Work Day to the Friday of Memorial Day Weekend and the day after Labor Day until the Fall Work Day as “shoulder season”. During shoulder season, staffing varies.
Parking
-
Cars parked on-site must display the AYC burgee decal on the right, rear of their car, preferably on the bumper. Members in good standing can acquire decals from the club Secretary. Cars without an AYC sticker may be subject to towing at the Club's discretion. Members are required to remove their AYC parking decal when they sell their cars.
-
On-site parking is intended for members in good standing who are using the club. On weekends, members are asked not to park their cars on-site when they are shopping or working in town. Members should make every effort to park off-site when away cruising.
-
Parking in front of the dock ramp is limited to loading and unloading only for a maximum of 15 minutes.
Children at the Club
-
AYC encourages families to use the Ropewalk. However, after 6:00 p.m., children under 21 must be accompanied by a member. Young adults over 21 (without Jr. Member Status) are to be treated as any other guest and must be accompanied by a member. Jr. Members are considered members in good standing and therefore enjoy the same access to the club as members.
Guests
-
Guests must always be accompanied by a member in good standing.
-
Guests must park off-site.
Pets at the Club
-
All pets must be on a leash and remain outside the Ropewalk.
-
Members must clean up after their pets.
Cooking at the club
-
Members are welcome to use the kitchen and all its contents as well as the two outdoor grills. Members are expected to leave the kitchen, grills and deck in ship shape condition. Members should make sure the grills are turned off and nothing has been left in the refrigerator.
-
A commercial dishwasher is available to hasten dishwashing. Instructions for use of the dishwasher are posted in the kitchen. Members are encouraged to ask the Club Manager or a Steward for help if they need additional instruction on the dishwasher.
-
Members, their families or their guests may not clean fish in the Ropewalk.
-
Members must always accompany children in the kitchen.
-
All furniture taken from the Ropewalk for use on the deck or lawn, must be returned promptly.
Miscellaneous Policies
-
Flammables must not be stored in the Ropewalk.
-
Climbing on the club fence is dangerous and prohibited.
-
Throwing rocks or other objects into the water from club property is prohibited.

Members can explore the use of Silas Perkins Park by contacting the Town of Kennebunkport's Parks & Recreation Department at 207-967-4304.
-
Complaints of unbecoming conduct at the club by members or their guests may be shared with any member of the Board of Governors. That Board member will share the information as needed with other Board members who will determine an appropriate response.
-
In deference to visiting yachtsmen and our neighbors, "quiet hours" are observed from 2200 to 0800 hours.
-
